The B-29 Superfortress was a four-engine, propeller-driven heavy bomber, and one of the largest aircraft used in World War II. An advanced bomber for its time, its features included remote controlled machine gun turrets and a pressurized cabin which allowed for high-altitude flight.
Jack’s Hack was named for her pilot Jack Volkert and was acquired by the New England Air Museum in 1973. Restoration began in 1998 in cooperation with the 58th Bomb Wing – the first unit to take the B-29 into combat in World War II and is meticulously maintained by volunteers.
